BOOT HISTORY
============


These are boot screens from Windows and older Microsoft operating systems (as well as some competitors),
over the last decade, may it revives some memories.

Boot History 1981-94 - MSDOS.bmp	Good old MS-DOS text-based startup (here 6.22 with common autoexec.bat)
Boot History 1982 - C64.bmp		Commodore 64 Basic v2, back when Microsoft was licensing its ROM-BASIC
Boot History 1984 - C16.bmp		Commodore 16 Basic v3.5, less known than the C=64
Boot History 1985 - C128.bmp		Commodore Basic 7.0, note this one includes the Microsoft Corp. copyright
Boot History 1985 - Win 1.01.bmp	First released version of Windows
Boot History 1993 - IBM OS2 2.11.bmp	Competition by IBM
Boot History 1993 - Win 3.11.bmp	Windows 3.11 for Workgroups, the achievement of 16bit Windows
Boot History 1994 - IBM OS2 Warp 3.bmp	Competition by IBM
Boot History 1995 - Win 95.bmp		Windows 95, introducing the Taskbar, and much better user interface
Boot History 1996 - IBM OS2 Warp 4.bmp	Competition by IBM
Boot History 1996 - Win NT4.bmp		The professional version of Windows with a Taskbar, Windows NT Workstation 4.0
Boot History 1998 - Win 98.bmp		Building upon Windows 95, Windows 98 introduced Web integration (IE4)
Boot History 2000 - Win 2000.bmp	Windows 2000, aka NT5, added multimedia and plug'n'play over NT4
Boot History 2000 - Win Me.bmp		Windows Millenium, added 2000 style and better protection to Windows 98
Boot History 2002 - Win XP.bmp		Windows XP merges Windows Me and Windows 2000 into a uniform home/pro. OS
Boot History 2002 - Xbox.bmp		Microsoft Xbox gaming console, based on NT kernel and Direct-X

Some have been reworked to fit 16 colors to work as Windows XP boot screens, so they're all ready to use.
